Military Affairs of the Hetmanate
The entire population is liable for military service. Permanent service is carried out only by the Cossack class (Serdiuks, Haidamaks, Haiduks, Plastuns), as well as janissaries and mujahideen. During war, an appointed Hetman with absolute command authority is chosen.
The armed forces are divided into several classes:
- Haiduks. Planetary garrison troops who hold worlds against raids and invasions. They have a limited arsenal without heavy weapons and use interplanetary aircraft for combat patrols.
- Serdiuks. The Hetmanate’s assault troops. They have the means to wage war across galaxies. They can storm foreign planets and systems. Their arsenal is varied and includes super-heavy plasma cannons for breaching planetary defenses and nuclear charges.
- Plastuns. Reconnaissance raiders and harassment infantry. Light space infantry. Their advantages are mobility and stealth of movement. They have no heavy weapons and conduct reconnaissance, space patrols, and rear-area raids.
- Haidamaks. Unofficially, they are Federation Cossacks engaged in illegal activity approved by the Sich, such as raids on other colonies and seizure of resources. They are used de facto to strike other empires without de jure consequences.
