Loca Deserta is a science-fiction universe rooted in Cossack history and culture. Three rival star empires — the Hetmanate Federation, the Empire of the Sun, and the Corporate Republic — have divided the galaxy following the Martian Division of the Universe. Faster-than-light travel is controlled by the neutral scientists of Jovian Europa, and the Hetmanate — descendants of Zaporozhian Cossacks — fights to hold its corner of space against imperial aggression.
